Wednesday Wisdom – The Leadership Edition
“The ones who find happiness are the ones who don’t make excuses.
If it’s broken, they fix it. If it’s wrong, they make it right.” – Anonymous
As leaders, innovators, and change agents, these words invite us to pause and engage in honest self-inquiry:
How do these words resonate with you right now—in your leadership, your relationships, and your decision-making?
Before you go further, take a moment to center yourself:
Deep breath in… exhale slowly.
Deep breath in… exhale slowly.
Deep breath in… exhale slowly.
Allow your mind to settle and your awareness to expand.
Today’s reflection is inspired by Iyanla Vanzant’s Until Today: Daily Devotions for Spiritual Growth and Peace of Mind. She writes:
“I will know peace when I stop finding excuses for what I am not doing.”
This lands differently in times like these—when the environment is politically charged, emotionally heavy, and full of competing priorities. Yet clarity often emerges when we allow ourselves to ask the hard questions:
What am I afraid of that makes me stay here?
Sit with that.
Don’t rush.
Let the truth surface gently.
Excuses are often protective mechanisms—camouflaging fear, uncertainty, or unresolved narratives. But they also limit agency, dull momentum, and quietly sabotage our professional and personal growth.
If you’re noticing misalignment between where you are and where you want to be, this is your invitation to realign.
How to Move From Excuses to Empowered Action
(Insights adapted from Tony Robbins & grounded in coaching best practices)
Take Radical Responsibility
Your decisions shape your outcomes. As Robbins reminds us:
“The past does not equal the future unless you live there.”
Where are you still living in yesterday?
Shift Your Perspective
Reframe obstacles as opportunities for transformation.
What might become possible with a 2mm shift in mindset?
Identify Your Limiting Beliefs
What old story is holding you back from the results you desire?
Rewrite Your Narrative
Language creates reality.
Which empowering belief are you ready to reinforce?
Extract the Lesson
Reflection builds resilience.
What wisdom have recent missteps revealed?
Stop Overthinking
Analysis paralysis erodes confidence.
What decision are you delaying that needs your leadership today?
Clarify Your Vision
Revisit your blueprint.
What do you truly want—professionally, relationally, spiritually?
Set Aligned, Achievable Goals
Micro-wins build momentum.
What is one SMART goal you can commit to this week?
Seek Accountability & Community
Transformation accelerates in supportive systems—coaches, mentors, leaders, teams.
Who is helping you stay aligned with your highest potential?
Today’s Affirmation (Iyanla Vanzant)
“I am devoted to eliminating all excuses that camouflage fear!”
Now the question becomes:
What courageous action are you willing to take today?
Not tomorrow.
Not next quarter.
Today.
Don’t retreat from your moment—step into it.
Be intentional. Be accountable. Encourage your teams to do the same.
In a noisy world, your courage becomes your clarity—lead from there.
With belief in you,..
