Freedom Friday

Freedom Friday: WORTH — Give Yourself Permission to Choose YOU!
“I will realize my own worth when I accept I have permission to spend time with myself.”
— Iyanla Vanzant, Until Today...
What if the most important person you’ve been neglecting is YOU?
Good Day Leaders,
As we move deeper into October’s theme of WORTH, carrying forward September’s foundation of TRUST, I invite you to consider something:
When was the last time you gave yourself permission to simply BE, without feeling obligated to DO?
We are entering the final quarter of the year. Deadlines are approaching, expectations are increasing, economic uncertainty continues, political tensions remain, and the holiday season is just around the corner.
For many of us, the demands of leadership, family, community, and professional responsibilities leave little room for the person behind the performance.
Yet, your worth is not measured by how much you accomplish, how many people depend on you, or how consistently you put yourself last.
Self-acceptance begins when we recognize that our needs, aspirations, emotions, and well-being deserve attention, too.
From a coaching perspective, cultivating self-awareness, honoring personal values, establishing healthy boundaries, and practicing self-compassion are not indulgences. They are intentional choices that support authentic leadership, resilience, and sustainable growth.
Your Freedom Friday Invitation: The 24-Hour WORTH Challenge:
*Inspired by Iyanla Vanzant’s Until Today
I invite you to make the next 24 hours an intentional investment in YOURSELF.
-Not by abandoning your commitments, but by releasing unnecessary expectations and creating space to reconnect with who you are.
For the next 24 hours:
AFFIRM yourself: Speak to yourself with the same encouragement and compassion you offer others.
ACKNOWLEDGE your needs: Notice what your mind, body, and spirit are asking of you.
ACCEPT yourself: Release the pressure to prove, perform, or perfect every aspect of your life.
ALIGN with your values: Choose at least one activity that brings you peace, fulfillment, or joy.
ALLOW yourself to receive: Rest, reflect, celebrate, and reconnect without guilt.
And remember, you do not have to earn the right to care for yourself.
Pause. Breathe. Reflect.
-Take a slow, intentional breath in…
-Exhale what you no longer need to carry.
Now consider:
What beliefs or expectations have influenced how I prioritize my own needs?
If I truly believed my worth was unconditional, what would I give myself permission to do differently?
How might honoring my own worth strengthen my capacity to lead, connect, and support others?
For leaders and teams:
What could change in our workplace culture if we modeled self-acceptance, respected healthy boundaries, and recognized people for more than their productivity?
Your Call to Action:
This Freedom Friday, choose one meaningful act of self-acceptance. Make space for yourself, even if it is only 15 uninterrupted minutes.
Then ask yourself:
What did I discover when I made myself a priority?
Share your reflection, invite a colleague into the conversation, or challenge your team to practice one intentional act of self-care this weekend.
As we navigate uncertainty, competing demands, and the final months of the year, remember that trusting yourself includes trusting that your needs matter.
Your worth was never dependent on what you do for others. Give yourself permission to honor who you ARE!
You got this!
