FREEDOM FRIDAY | From Worry to Action

“If a problem is fixable, if a situation is such that you can do something about it, then there is no need to worry. If it's not fixable, then there is no help in worrying. There is no benefit in worrying whatsoever.”
— Dalai Lama XIV

Take a mindful pause. Inhale deeply... exhale slowly. Again, breathe in... and out...One more time... soften your shoulders, clear your thoughts, come fully into the present moment...

Now ask yourself: How do these words land for you?

Where in your leadership, your life, or your team are you holding onto worry instead of activating intention?

As a PCC and coach to courageous, high-performing leaders, I invite you to explore this:

  • When Action and Worry enter the ring, who would you bet on?

  • What would the outcome reveal about your mindset today?

Let’s define the terrain:

  • Worry (noun/verb): A loop of uncertainty, fear, and inertia.

  • Action (noun): A conscious, aligned movement toward a meaningful outcome.

 Coaching Insight:

  • Worry thrives in ambiguity and drains creative energy.

  • Action invites clarity, empowers agency, and reorients us to purpose.

“The real reason for worry: it keeps you from having to take effective action.”— Gay Hendricks

 Reflection Prompt:

What current challenge are you worrying about that might actually be calling for bold, imperfect action instead?

Today’s Freedom Practice:

-Try the Wonder Question from Gay Hendricks’ A Year of Living Consciously.

“I wonder…?” This open-ended inquiry breaks mental loops and awakens possibility.

Ask a question you truly don’t have the answer to.

  • I wonder what might be possible if I let go of control and trust the process?

  • I wonder how I can lead with more courage and less fear?

  • I wonder what new opportunity this challenge is preparing me for?

Curiosity is the gateway to creativity. Action is the antidote to worry.

Today’s Challenge for Leaders & Teams:

Start your next meeting with a “Wonder Question. ”Spark a conversation around what’s keeping your team in worry, and what small, strategic actions can shift momentum. Then… listen.

“Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create.”— Roy T. Bennett

Coaching Questions to Reflect On:

  • What’s one micro-action I can take today to move from fear into flow?

  • How does worry serve me—and what am I willing to release?

  • Where am I ready to lead with more intention and less reactivity?

Remember:

Worry is passive. Courage is active. Clarity is a choice.

You have the power to shift your focus, own your impact, and inspire others to do the same. Don’t wait for perfect conditions—lead from where you are.

You got this!
