WEDNESDAY WISDOM | FAITH: THE BATTLE WITHIN

All significant battles are waged within the self.”

Sheldon Kopp

What if the battle you’re facing isn’t asking you to fight harder—but to see yourself more clearly?

In a world filled with uncertainty, competing narratives, economic pressure and heightened political tension, it can be easy to focus on what is happening around us.

But meaningful growth often begins by turning inward.

Pause... Breathe... Get present...

-Take a slow, intentional breath in…Exhale slowly.

-Again… breathe in... Exhale.

-One more time… breathe in... Exhale.

Now ask yourself:

What am I really battling?

What belief, fear, assumption or pattern may be holding me back?

As coaches, we know that awareness can create choice.

The ICF Core Competencies emphasize cultivating curiosity, remaining open to context and perspective, and evoking awareness through powerful questions that help clients examine their thinking, beliefs, values and patterns. (International Coaching Federation)

That same practice matters in leadership.

SEE YOURSELF CLEARLY.

  • Who am I becoming?

ACKNOWLEDGE HONESTLY.

  • What do I need to confront, strengthen or release?

RECOGNIZE YOUR STRENGTHS.

  • What do I naturally bring to the table—and how can I leverage those gifts?

CHOOSE COURAGEOUSLY.

  • What would I pursue if fear didn’t get the final vote?

And perhaps most importantly:

  • What am I willing to do differently?

Fear doesn’t always disappear before action.

Sometimes faith is choosing to move forward while uncertainty is still present.

For leaders, that courage has a ripple effect. When people experience environments where they can speak honestly, challenge ideas, acknowledge mistakes and ask for help without fear of interpersonal repercussions, teams are better positioned for learning, innovation and stronger decision-making. (McKinsey & Company)

Wednesday Reflection:

For yourself:

  • What opportunity might you be postponing because of fear?

  • What story are you telling yourself that may need to be challenged?

  • What is one courageous step you can take today?

For your team:

  • What are we not saying that needs to be said?

  • Where might fear be influencing our decisions or behavior?

  • What would become possible if everyone felt safe enough to contribute their perspective?

Today’s challenge:

  1. Identify one thing you would love to do but have been avoiding because of fear.

You don’t have to solve everything today.

  1. Take one intentional step.

  2. Have faith in your capacity to learn.

  3. Have faith in your ability to adapt.

  4. Have faith that growth can begin with one honest conversation, one courageous choice, or one step forward.

Don’t miss your opportunity to become who you are capable of becoming.

When the world feels uncertain, let faith move you from fear to possibility—and from possibility to purposeful action.

You got this!
