Freedom Friday: The Currency of Trust
“Trust is a critical pillar in any relationship, in every transaction and action, in every capacity of our lives.”
Good Morning, Leaders —
Here’s the real question for today:
Are you trustworthy?
In leadership and life, trust is not a given—it’s a commitment.
It’s a firm belief in the reliability, integrity, and authenticity of someone or something. In coaching terms, trust is the foundation for psychological safety, partnership, and transformation.
Consider this:
When others look to you, do they see consistency or convenience?
Do your words align with your actions—especially when no one’s watching?
How often do you check in with yourself to assess whether you’re building or eroding trust in your relationships and teams?
Trust is not built overnight—it’s cultivated through intentional actions and sustained presence.
7 Coaching-Informed Ways to Strengthen Trust as a Leader
Ask what you can give, not what you can get.
Facilitate courageous conversations that lead to shared understanding and growth.
Clarify expectations—help others know what they can count on.
Provide holistic feedback—see the person beyond the performance.
Protect the culture—draw the line against gossip and toxicity.
Embrace your humanity—acknowledge mistakes, repair, and reset.
Practice deep self-awareness—know your triggers, your values, and your impact.
Every headline today reflects a deeper crisis of trust.
In families, workplaces, communities, and institutions—the question echoes:
Who do you trust?
But here’s the pivot point: before asking “Who can I trust?”, ask:
“How can I become more trustworthy?”
Because leadership begins from the inside out. The micro-moments—how you listen, how you follow through, how you own your errors—create the macro impact that builds credibility and connection.
So today, reflect with your team:
What behaviors foster trust in our culture?
Where have we lost it—and what conversations could restore it?
How will we lead with integrity even when it’s uncomfortable?
One of my favorite reminders says it best:
“Trust is earned, respect is given, and loyalty is demonstrated. Betrayal of any of these is to lose all three.”— Ziad K. Abdelnour
In these urgent times, silence and complacency are no longer options.
Lead with integrity... Build with courage... Stand in truth..
When trust leads, transformation follows...
You got this!
