MONDAY MADNESS | FAITH IN THE MISSION

Faith doesn’t require you to see the entire path. It challenges you to take the next intentional step.”

— Coach Tavia

Good Monday Morning!

Let’s start this week with a challenge:

What if faith isn’t about having all the answers?

What if faith is about trusting yourself enough to begin—even when the path ahead is uncertain?

Pause:

Take a breath in…

Exhale slowly…

Again.

Take a breath in…

Exhale slowly…

Give yourself permission to be fully present before the demands of the day begin.

Because in challenging times—politically charged, economically uncertain, professionally demanding, and personally complex—it can be easy to become consumed by what we cannot control...

But here is the coaching question:

What remains within your influence?

Your choices. Your response. Your boundaries. Your voice. Your priorities. Your energy. Your next step.

That is where faith meets action.

FAITH IN THE MISSION

Your mission does not have to be perfectly defined for you to move with intention.

And whether we’re talking about a personal mission, professional purpose, or organizational mission, it cannot simply live on a wall, in a presentation, or in a strategic plan.

It must be reflected in our choices and experienced through our behavior.

One of the themes that stood out to me in David Carpenter’s Lifehack article, How to Reach Your Full Potential Every Day and Succeed, is the connection between knowing your bigger picture, setting meaningful goals, managing your time, practicing discipline, accepting failure, simplifying, recharging, and remaining present. (ICF)

And there is an important leadership connection here.

McKinsey research on purpose in the workplace found that employees who experience greater fulfillment of their purpose through work report stronger engagement and other positive work and life outcomes. The research also highlights the importance of leaders helping employees see the connection between their daily work and the organization’s broader purpose. (McKinsey & Company)

Purpose cannot simply be proclaimed. It has to be experienced.

From a coaching perspective, this creates an opportunity to evoke awareness rather than automatically reach for another solution.

SO, MY FRIEND… PAUSE AND ASK YOURSELF:

  1. What matters most to me in this season of my life?

  2. Where have I allowed uncertainty to disconnect me from my purpose?

  3. What am I saying I believe—and what do my current choices demonstrate?

  4. What is one courageous, values-aligned action I am willing to take this week?

And for leaders:

  1. Can the people you lead see the connection between their daily work and the mission you ask them to fulfill?

  2. Where might your team need greater clarity, trust, voice, or permission to act?

FAITH IN ACTION

This week, consider five intentional moves:

F — Focus on what matters.

-What deserves your attention?

A — Align your choices with your values.

-Are your actions reflecting what you say matters?

I — Identify what is within your influence.

-Where can you exercise agency?

T — Take the next intentional step.

What action can you take now—not someday?

H — Hold space for learning, rest, and possibility.

-Where might you need to pause, recharge, listen, or remain open to what you cannot yet see?

ICF’s Core Competencies emphasize Evoking Awareness through powerful questions, challenging perspectives, exploring values and beliefs, and helping clients generate their own ways forward. Facilitates Client Growth then supports translating insight into action while honoring client autonomy and accountability. (ICF)

That is the invitation this Monday:

  • Don’t wait for perfect conditions.

  • Identify one thing that matters.

  • Identify one action within your influence.

  • Then take the step. Not because you have guaranteed the outcome—but because you have clarified what you are willing to stand for.

As coaches, leaders, professionals, parents, caregivers, entrepreneurs, and human beings, we don’t always get to choose the circumstances surrounding us.

We do have an opportunity to choose how intentionally we show up within them.

YOUR MONDAY REFLECTION

  1. What is your mission?

  2. What deserves your faith?

  3. What deserves your attention?

  4. And most importantly… What will you do about it today?

Share your reflection below—or take one of these questions into your next team conversation.

Sometimes the most powerful coaching question isn’t: “What is the entire plan?”

It is: “What is the next intentional step?”

MONDAY MADNESS REMINDER

Faith may not change the circumstances—but it can change the courage with which you meet them.

Your next step doesn’t need to be perfect. It needs to be purposeful.
