Monday Madness

Monday Madness: What If Correction Isn’t Criticism?
“The correction you resist today may contain the wisdom you need tomorrow.”
When was the last time feedback, correction, or a difficult consequence became the catalyst for one of your greatest lessons?
Before you continue reading, take a brief moment for yourself: Pause.
-Take a slow breath in through your nose.
Hold it for a moment.
-Now exhale gently.
Allow your shoulders to relax.
-Release the need to defend, explain, or justify. Simply become curious.
As you move through today’s reflection, consider:
What might I discover if I approached correction with openness instead of resistance?
As we continue our June focus on forgiveness, let’s explore a topic that many of us find uncomfortable: correction.
Whether it comes from a supervisor, parent, partner, friend, colleague—or even from our own inner voice—correction can challenge our perspective, test our humility, and invite us into accountability.
Too often, we resist correction because it feels personal. Yet growth often begins where defensiveness ends.
As leaders and professionals, we all make decisions that don’t align with our values, react from frustration, operate from assumptions, or allow emotions to drive our choices. When consequences follow, we may question their fairness rather than examine the lesson they offer.
Correction is not always punishment. Sometimes, it’s feedback. Sometimes, it’s redirection. Sometimes, it’s an opportunity to rebuild trust—with ourselves and others.
This week, reflect on these coaching questions:
How do you typically respond when someone offers you corrective feedback?
What might become possible if you viewed correction as information rather than judgment?
Where might accountability, ownership, or humility create space for healing and growth?
What correction have you been resisting that could move you closer to the leader you aspire to become?
Forgiveness includes extending grace to ourselves while taking responsibility for our actions. True growth occurs when we can acknowledge our mistakes without allowing them to define us.
Your next breakthrough may be hidden inside the feedback you’ve been avoiding.
Correction may sting in the moment, but it often reveals the pathway to your next level of growth.
“The strongest leaders aren’t those who never need correction—they’re the ones courageous enough to grow from it.”
