Freedom Friday: TRUST is Built not Demanded

Hope is not passive. It is an act of courage that says, ‘I believe tomorrow can be better—and I’m willing to help make it so.’”

As we close August’s theme of FAITH and step into September’s theme of TRUST, I’m reminded:

Faith may give us the courage to move forward.
Trust gives us the confidence to take the next step.

But trust isn’t built through words alone.

It is built through integrity, consistency, transparency, accountability, and action.

Whether you’re leading a team, building a business, navigating relationships, or leading yourself, ask:

  • Can people trust my words because my actions consistently reinforce them?

  • What am I doing to create an environment where people feel safe to speak, question, disagree, and contribute?

  • Where might there be a gap between the trust I believe I’m giving and the trust others actually experience?

  • What is one behavior I can intentionally practice this month to strengthen trust?

From a coaching perspective, trust creates the conditions for honest reflection, deeper awareness, courageous conversations, learning, and meaningful action.

And leaders—this matters.

Current research continues to show that trust, psychological safety, communication, and leadership behavior are deeply connected to how people experience their workplaces. Trust cannot simply be announced from the top. It must be experienced. (PwC)

So, this Labor Day weekend, pause before you rush into the next thing.

What are you doing—intentionally and consistently—to become someone others can trust?

And perhaps the deeper question:

What would become possible if you trusted yourself a little more, too?

FAITH says, “Keep going.”
TRUST says, “You don’t have to go alone.”

As we enter September, may we lead with integrity, listen with curiosity, create psychological safety, and make trust visible through our choices.

Your title may give you authority.
Your consistency earns you trust.

You got this!
