Monday Madness: Face It to Free It

All human unhappiness comes from not facing reality squarely, exactly as it is.”

— Gautama Buddha

Take a moment—pause, breathe, and ground yourself.

-Inhale deeply… exhale slowly.

-Again… inhale… and release.

-One more time… inhale… and let go.

Now, return to this question with intention:

How do these words resonate with you—right now, in your current reality?

From a coaching perspective, this is where transformation begins: cultivating awareness. Not the kind that skims the surface—but the kind that invites courageous, unfiltered truth.

Facing reality can be complex—especially when it challenges our identity, disrupts comfort, or exposes gaps between where we are and where we say we want to be. As leaders, influencers, and change agents, the discipline is not in avoidance—but in presence, ownership, and intentional action.

Reflecting this morning, I was reminded of a powerful insight:

The longer we resist facing whatever it is, the easier it becomes to forget that we are fully equipped to change it.

Let’s sit with that.

What personal or professional reality are you avoiding?

Where might your internal narrative be limiting your growth or leadership impact?

What would shift if you chose to confront truth with curiosity rather than judgment?

In coaching, we often explore the distinction between fact vs. storywhat is objectively happening versus the meaning we assign to it. When we release attachment to our stories, we create space for new perspectives, empowered choices, and aligned action.

“There is only one sure way to escape from reality, and that is by facing it.”

— Marty Rubin

Today’s Affirmation:

I am willing to acknowledge there are certain realities I must face about my life.

Now consider:

  • What are you willing to acknowledge today?

  • What support, structures, or accountability will help you move forward?

  • How will you model this level of ownership for those you lead?

This is your invitation to lean into intentionality, self-awareness, and responsibility—not as abstract ideals, but as daily leadership practices.

Don’t miss the opportunity in front of you. The work may be uncomfortable—but it is also liberating.

Your next level is on the other side of the truth you’ve been avoiding.

You’ve got this!
