Freedom Friday

Freedom Friday:
The fastest way to limit growth is to see someone else's success as a threat.
The fastest way to expand it is to help others rise.
We've all heard the "crabs in a barrel" analogy:
When several crabs are trapped together, they pull one another down, preventing any of them from escaping.
It's a powerful reminder of what happens when competition, insecurity, scarcity thinking, or fear replace support and collaboration.
As leaders, professionals, and influencers, it's worth asking ourselves:
Where do you see "crab mentality" showing up in your organization, team, or industry?
How do you respond when someone else's success challenges your comfort zone?
What conversations, beliefs, or behaviors may be unintentionally limiting growth—your own or someone else's?
What would change if you chose collaboration over competition and contribution over comparison?
As coaches, we know that awareness is the first step toward transformation. Freedom comes when we intentionally create environments where people are encouraged to grow, succeed, and thrive together.
Today, I invite you to take one intentional action:
Identify one person you can encourage, mentor, recognize, or create an opportunity for this week—and then follow through.
Be the person who celebrates potential, opens doors, and extends a hand instead of pulling someone back.
Leadership is not measured by how many people stay beneath you—it's measured by how many people grow because of you.
What insights does this reflection spark for you?
Have you experienced a moment when someone helped you rise—or when you realized you needed to shift from comparison to collaboration?
What's one practical step you'll take to create a culture where others can thrive?
I'd love to hear your perspective. Share your thoughts, experiences, or lessons learned in the comments, and take a moment to engage with someone else's response. Let's learn from one another and build a community that lifts people higher.
Freedom Friday Reminder:
"In challenging times, the leaders who lift others higher will always rise above the noise."
